About Me
I am happily married with two adult sons and live and work full time as a complementary therapist in Beckenham, Kent.
I first turned to complementary therapies twenty years ago when life seemed particularly challenging and events conspired in such a way that I began to experience chronic anxiety and panic attacks. I now look back at this time with gratitude because, from my present perspective, I can see that this experience was the catalyst I needed in order to effect the necessary changes in the way I felt about myself and the world around me. I felt as though I was awakening from a nightmare and 'drawing back the curtains' to reveal the magical world in which I found myself.
I began attending weekly talks at Alternatives in Piccadilly every Monday evening where inspirational speakers from around the world introduced me to a wide range of subjects and helped me to look at myself and the world around me in a different way. Indeed it was here that I was introduced to Crop Circles.
Many people are not aware of the complexity, beauty and wisdom inherent within Crop Circles - simply writing them off as 'crop vandalism'. In fact science has evidenced that the formation of a crop circle often leaves tangible traces indicating the crop circles are formed by a technology that employs something akin to microwave energy. Corn stalks show signs of having been super-heated and soil changes can sometimes cause a ghost of the image to appear in the subsequent year's crop where the affected soil yields a crop of a darker green. Visit Crop Circle Connector and Temporary Temples for more information and wonderful images.
I am now an Usui Reiki and Karuna Reiki ® Master/Teacher and have qualified in traditional Foot/Hand Reflexology, Facial Reflexology (which is a completely different therapy), Swedish Massage, Indian Head Massage, Thought Field Therapy and Emotional Freedom Technique. I have also obtained diplomas in Practical Metaphysics and Metaphysical Therapy both of which have deepened my understanding of the energies and influences which mould our emotional and physical being and therefore the life that we experience.
What are Complementary Therapies?
Your body is truly remarkable. Under the control of the autonomic nervous system (not under your conscious control) it carries out thousands of functions every minute so as to maintain health and balance. It is constantly repairing damaged tissue, it totally renews itself every seven years, it automatically produces and dispenses its own pharmaceuticals, it produces antibodies to fight infection, maintains balance via the hormonal system, and flushes toxins from your system (to name but a few). In short, our bodies are a dynamic flowing stream of energetic intelligence - nothing can happen to one part of the body without the remainder knowing about it.
So, what goes wrong?
Our body's ability to maintain perfect health may be sabotaged by the stresses and strains of everyday life, lack of exercise, poor lifestyle, suppressed emotions or dietary and environmental toxins. Mainstream medicine may successfully deal with the presenting symptoms, but it fails to address the underlying cause. As more and more people begin to realise this, they are turning to Complementary Therapies (often in addition to mainstream medicine) as a means of finding a lasting solution and restoring balance.
Complementary/holistic therapies work with, and stimulate, the body's own natural ability to heal itself. Homeostasis (balance) is restored by balancing hormones, stimulating circulation, calming the nervous system, dissolving energy blocks and by facilitating inner calm. Such therapies may be referred to as 'complementary' because they will safely complement any treatment regime you may already be following, or they are sometimes called 'holistic' because they treat the whole person - body, mind and spirit.
